First check the sensor lights.
My garage door will not close unless i hold the button down.
All of a sudden the garage door will only open with one press all of a sudden the garage door will only open with one press of the garage or car button.
When the garage door is closed and the button on the control is pushed it will open all the way just fine but when i try to close the garage door it won t close unless i hold the button down until.
Clutter or obstructions that block the sensor are the first problems to look for if your door won t close or in extreme cases open at all.
If i lift my finger off the button before that point the door will stop and then i have to.

To open my garage door i have to hold down the button on my wall until the door is at least halfway up.
When you can close the door with the wall button by holding it down until it completely closes and the remotes only make the door move a small amount and the door returns that is the sign of the safety sensor system.
When this happens your garage door will only close by holding down on the wall button or wall console until the door fully closes.
But it will not close unless you hold the garage button read more.
This is of course a safety feature to prevent the heavy garage door crushing anyone or anything that might be in the pathway of the door when it comes down.
You will find that the door will only move an inch or so in the close direction and reverse.
The transmitters remotes will not work to close the garage door.
